Our Story: A Firefighter’s Solution

Founded by Mississauga firefighter Bob Mosher, Motto Decon is the result of a career dedicated to safety. After witnessing the long-term risks of contaminated gear, Bob spent three years engineering a practical, Canadian-built solution to protect those who serve from the silent threat of carcinogens.
A Solution Born on the Frontlines
Motto Decon wasn't created in a boardroom. It was created in the fire hall, born out of a career dedicated to service.
My name is Bob Mosher. I had the honour of serving as a firefighter with the City of Mississauga, and like you, I’ve always put the health and safety of our crews first. Firefighting is a calling, but we often overlook the silent threat we carry with us post-fire: contaminated gear.
The toxins and carcinogens which cover SCBA harnesses after a fire pose a serious long-term health risk. As a firefighter and SCBA technician, I knew there was a critical need for a practical, effective solution to help our crews. Available options were limited, expensive, and not fully effective.
Three Years of Development
For the past three years, I have been dedicated to developing the Motto Decon system. It started with a simple goal: to improve firefighter health and safety through fast, affordable decontamination. The journey involved multiple prototypes and countless lessons learned - figuring out exactly how to clean gear effectively without disrupting the workflow of a busy station.
Every detail has been carefully considered to provide the best balance of affordability, effectiveness, and ease of use. The equipment has been overdesigned to endure difficult conditions under daily use for many years. With local engineers and fabricators, the Motto Decon team has become experts in practical decontamination that actually works, and we're looking forward to expanding the product line to serve you better.
The end result is a system designed and built right here in Canada. It is compact, portable, and easy to use on-scene or at the station. Constructed from welded and powder coated steel, it can quickly clean large numbers of Scott, MSA or other SCBA system harnesses and cylinders. Whether running off a fire truck pump or a fire hydrant for high-pressure/volume cleaning on-scene or a standard tap at the station, the system remains compact, portable, and easy to use.
Our Promise
Motto Decon is focused solely on one thing: firefighter health. We are committed to better health outcomes for our fire crews and will continue to improve our equipment and services to that end.
To all firefighters, and those who support them, thank you for all you do to protect our communities. I invite you to reach out to me directly through our website to discuss your department's needs or to ask any questions you might have about our system.
Sincerely,
Bob Mosher
President, Motto Decon Inc.
